New Position: Waldorf Learning Support Coordinator
The Waldorf School of Philadelphia is seeking an experienced Waldorf Learning Support Coordinator to work with children from Early Childhood through Eighth Grade who are experiencing physical, academic, cognitive, behavioral, and/or emotional difficulties. The ideal candidate will join our growing Educational Support Group and bring experience working with the therapeutic education indications of Rudolf Steiner and other complementary methods, including the Extra Lesson and Early Movement Integration Therapy. The Learning Support Coordinator will work directly with children, teachers, parents, in-house specialists, and outside specialists.
Extra Lesson Teacher
Asheville Waldorf School is seeking a qualified Extra Lesson teacher to work collaboratively with the educational support director, faculty and administration to provide extra lesson assessments and supportive activities for the healthy development of individual students and classes. This is a full or part-time position with mentoring available. AWS currently has an Educational Support Director, a Therapeutic Eurythmist, and a Pedagogical Eurythmist who work hygienically with small groups of students.
Duties include:
● Providing individual remedial lessons at school, and meeting with teachers to share “carry over” ideas for the classroom.
● Conducting ongoing individual Extra Lesson assessments as requested by teachers for students showing needs
● Making recommendations for additional (non-academic) ongoing support for any student or class in need
● Collaborating with Second Grade Assessments if needed
Participating with ECE teachers in First Grade Ready Observations
Conducting Sensory Screenings and follow up support in the Early Childhood classes when requested ● Conducting classroom observations as requested by teachers
● Providing written reports and meetings for parents as needed
● Supporting teachers in bringing classroom movement, circle games, and Extra Lesson drawing and painting activities that support social and physical development, as well as classroom learning
● Clearly articulating the Extra Lesson work and its inherent and unique value to healthy childhood development as part of a robust Waldorf education.
Teaching Remedial Reading and/or Math Support classes to small groups in the lower grades
Minimum Qualifications
● Certified in Waldorf’s Extra Lesson Remedial Program
● At least three years of teaching experience
● Strong interpersonal, communication, writing and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
● Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent
● Trained in special education, including reading and interpreting neuropsychological and IEP reports
● Broad experience in the field of special education and alternative therapeutic support options
● Waldorf early childhood or class teacher experience
- Trained in Orton Gillingham remedial reading
